Dear all

The Paleontological Institute is pleased to announce the newest volume in the Paleontological Contributions series. Bradley J. Walls and Alycia L. Stigall, Ohio University, collaborated to produce “A field-based analysis of the accuracy of niche models applied to the fossil record.” Paleontological Contributions number 6 (open access; online handle: http://hdl.handle.net/1808/8950). This contribution discusses the use of field validation to assess the predictive accuracy of ecological niche modeling (ENM) methods for Paleozoic brachiopod species, and represents the first field validation analysis of ENM methods in the fossil record (full reference below).

Walls, Bradley J., & Alycia L. Stigall. 2012. A field-based analysis of the accuracy of niche models applied to the fossil record. Paleontological Contributions 6:1–12, 3 fig., 4 tables, 3 appendices, online handle: http://hdl.handle.net/1808/8950
