The position of a University Assistant (prae doc) at the Department of
Palaeontology, University of Vienna is vacant. Duration of employment is
4 years (01.01.2014-31.12.2017).
The position is for a potential PhD studentwho wants to study
macroecology, macroevolution and stratigraphic palaeobiology of Cenozoic
molluscs. The main function is the participation in research.
Additionally we expect teaching (holding classes due to extent
regulations of wage agreement), support of students, and help with
external fund raising and administration.
Candidates have a completed diploma or master study in the field of
palaeontology or marine biology with focus on palaeoecology or ecology
of marine invertebrates, competence in taxonomy, systematics and
mutlivariate statistics, and Interest in macroecology, macroevolution
and stratigraphic palaeobiology. Experience in teaching and basic
knowledge in statistics software is an advantage.
