Does anyone have information on the present taxonomic standing of
Dictyorhabdus priscus Walcott (1892) from the Harding Sandstone (Colorado).
Walcott described this enigmatic fossil as 'notochordal sheaths' of a
'chimaerid fish'. Bashford Dean (1906) in his work on chimaerid fish said
it might be a cephalopod mollusc, also citing Hyatt (1994). Flower (1952)
said it was not a mollusc, but a hexactinwllid sponge.
