National Museums Scotland is one of the UK¹s leading museums services.
Operating five museums and with one of  the largest multidisciplinary
collections in the UK, it aims to be a world-class museums service that
educates, informs and inspires. A major redevelopment and modernisation
programme is currently being implemented across our organisation, including
a £47 million redevelopment of the Royal Museum. This investment will create
new displays, enhance learning and public facilities and provide high
quality visitor experiences.

As Keeper of Natural Sciences you will lead one of the largest Natural
Sciences departments in a European museum. Managing important international
collections covering Zoology and Geology, your key responsibilities will

Leadership and development of a team of 26 people
Setting strategic direction for the future development, interpretation,
organisation and preservation of  the Natural Sciences collections
Managing the department¹s contribution to the development of six natural
world galleries for the Royal Museum Project
Ensuring the development of the department¹s research programmes
Representing NMS and the collection on a national and international basis
Demonstrating strong strategic leadership and management skills, you will be
degree qualified and have a proven track record of achievement within
Natural Sciences.  Direct experience of managing the interpretation of
collections combined with management ability will be critical.
