The extremely successful CPC-2006 (16th Canadian
Paleontology Conference) was held at the Redpath
Museum in Montreal, Quebec from October 13-16. It
featured both a pre-meeting and a post-meeting
fieldtrip, and two days of talks and poster
displays, as well as a visit to MusÈe de
PalÈontologie et de l'evolution. Social events
included an icebreaker on Friday, October 13 and
a banquet on Saturday, October 14. The 2006
Pikaia Award winner was Nick Butterfield, and
T.E. Bolton Awards were presented to Nadia
Frobisch (Redpath Museum) and Emily Bamforth
(Queens University) - congratulations to all!
At the Paleontology Division business meeting on
Saturday morning, October 14, there was extreme
interest expressed in holding CPC-2007 in St.
John's, Newfoundland; I was assigned the task of
finding out if Memorial University would be
interested in hosting it. I'm pleased to report
that they have agreed to do so. For more
information, please contact:
