Hi everyone,
The deadline to submit abstracts for the annual Geological Society of America (GSA) conference-- JUNE 3RD-- is rapidly approaching! The deadline is a bit earlier this year because GSA is sponsoring a joint conference with several other societies. The meeting, which also includes the CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION of the Paleontological Society, is scheduled for OCTOBER 4-9TH in Houston, Texas.
The PS centennial festivities will kick off with the PS CENTENNIAL SHORT COURSE on Saturday, October 4th, so you'll want to make your travel arrangements to arrive the Friday before. The short course topic is "FROM EVOLUTION TO GEOBIOLOGY: RESEARCH QUESTIONS DRIVING PALEONTOLOGY AT THE START OF A NEW CENTURY" organized by Patricia Kelley and Richard Bambach and scheduled from 8am-5pm in George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston. More information re. centennial events, which include a reception and dinner on Saturday night at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, will soon be available on the PS website: http://www.paleosoc.org/
To submit an abstract for this meeting, please see the GSA website:
https://www.acsmeetings.org/
which contains information re. the meeting, registration, housing, and sessions offered. The PS is sponsoring a record number of sessions this year, including one Pardee, 25 topical, and a range of general discipline sessions.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions re. PS programming! Hope to see you in Houston...
