Dear Paleonetters,

We have a new JEOL JSM6490LV (i.e. low vacuum) with standard secondary and back-scatter detectors as well as robinson cathodoluminescence detectors. What I need to know is: will I get better image quality for conodonts when they are gold coated under high vacuum or will uncoated specimens under low vacuum do just as well?
