Hi everyone,

The deadline to submit abstracts for the annual Geological Society of America (GSA) conference-- AUGUST 11TH-- is rapidly approaching! The meeting is scheduled for OCTOBER 17-21ST in Portland, Oregon.

The paleontological programming will kick off with the PS SHORT COURSE on Saturday, October 17th, so you'll want to make your travel arrangements to arrive the Friday before. The short course topic is "Conservation Paleobiology: Using the Past to Manage for the Future" organized by Greg Dietl and Karl Flessa and scheduled from 8am-4:30pm in the Oregon Convention Center in downtown Portland.

Saturday evening, we'll host the Paleontological Society Awards Ceremony and Reception Buffet. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CEREMONY WILL REPLACE THE PS LUNCHEON THAT IS USUALLY HELD ON MONDAY AFTERNOON. Tickets for ceremony are $35 for professional and $10 for students and can be purchased on the GSA website:
http://www.geosociety.org/meetings/2009/

To submit an abstract for this meeting, please see the GSA website:
http://www.geosociety.org/meetings/2009/
which contains information re. the meeting, registration, housing, and sessions offered. The PS is sponsoring several sessions this year, including one Pardee, 14 topical, and a range of general discipline sessions.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions re. PS programming! Hope to see you in Portland...
