Hi Jonathan,

To be honest, I've never purchased acetate film myself, but I know it's getting harder and harder to find the appropriate material for permineralization peels. Bruno might try checking out this website:

http://www.grafixplastics.com/plastic_film.asp

They state that they carry both di and tri acetate cellulose, and I believe that the triacetate is the material to use. The exact guage can vary, but if the peels are too thin they have a tendency to curl up. He might have to call up the company and get them to send him samples.

Hope that's of some help.

Cheers,
Carol

Hi Carol,

This inquiry goes beyond my experience. I'd be interested to know too. What kind of acetate do you use for making peels and from whom do you get it?

Thanks,

Jonathan

Dear Paleoneters,
A colleague of mine (in Genève, Switzerland) is looking for tri-acetate transparency films to prepare acetate peels on carbonate rocks. We (in Brest, France) were using Stabilo Schwan transparencies (see attachment) but it looks like this company is not manufacturing them anymore.
Would you recommend other brands? Can you give me contact information for providers / resellers (eventually a webpage)?
Thank you in advance for your appreciated help.
Bruno Granier
