Paleonet: The PaleoNet Gallery

Dear PaleoNet List Members:

The PaleoNet Gallery is a part of the PaleoNet web site that features the
work of artists and illustrators on palaeontological topics. The Gallery is
accessible from the PaleoNet Home Page ...

... and is organized like a virtual art gallery. Today I have the pleasure
of announcing two new exhibitions that have been placed in the Gallery.

Enrico Bonino's exhibition, 'Back to the Past', is a first in several
respects. It's his first exhibition in the PaleoNet Gallery with works he
recently prepared for the Back to the Past Museum in Cancun, Mexico. In this
exhibition Enrico focuses on illustrations of trilobites and the ancient
environments in which they lived. These works are also noteworthy insofar as
they were created entirely using Adobe's Photoshop software as the drawing
medium. In his description of the works Enrico describes the subjects and
how they were created, though I'm sure he'll be more than happy to answer
additional questions on the latter form anyone who's interested. A link to
Enrico's e-mail address is part of the exhibition (on his biography page).

In addition, Gallery alum Hanah Caine as contributed several new drawings to
PaleoNet. These drawings cover a variety of topics, including one
reconstructing the placoderm Pterichthyodes, whose original drawing is
currently on exhibit in the Hugh Miller House Museum, Cromarty, Scotland.
Hanah's new drawings are collected together in a new Caine exhibition
entitled 'Other Illustrations'. Be sure to check out Hanah's original
Gallery exhibition, 'Burgess Shale Drawings' too.

Congratulations to both our new artists. Please take a moment to view their
work and forward any questions, comments and words of encouragement to them.
