I regret to inform the community of the passing of Don Eggert,  retired 
paleobotanist at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Don made many 
important contributions to our knowledge of Paleozoic paleobotany. Below 
is the death notice from the Chesterton Tribune 
  including a site to leave condolences. Please pass this on to those

Donald Eggert
b. 5/13/1934   -   d. 7/16/2010
   Donald A. Eggert, Age 76, of Chesterton, Indiana passed away on 
Friday, July 16, 2010. Donald was born May 13, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio 
to the late Howard Fred and Evelyn Rose (Oberacker) Eggert. He was a 
retiredProfessor from the University of Illinois at Chicago where he 
taught Paleobotany, Botany and Biology. He was a member of the 
Paleobotanist Society. Donald was survived by his step-son, Ronald Ramos 
of Chesterton. He was preceded in death by his parents. There will be no 
services locally. Burial will take place at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery in 
Cleveland, Ohio with his family. Memorial donations for Donald may be 
made to Ronald Ramos for a scholarship fund being set up for Paleobotany 
in Donald's name. Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
