Colleagues,

CALL FOR PAPERS

Abstract deadline: 19 January, 2010

The abstract deadline for the joint North-central/South-central GSA
meeting in Branson, Missouri is rapidly approaching.
There are a number of paleontology and related sessions planned for this
promising meeting, including:

Sedimentary geology of the North American craton and its southern margin
(co-sponsored by SEPM, Great Lakes Section);
Geology of the Ozark Plateaus;
Current Conodont Research: a Pander Society Session in Honor of Raymond
Ethington, Tom Thompson, and Jim Miller (co-sponsored by, and an official
meeting and workshop of The Pander Society);
Ichnofossils: The marriage of sedimentology and ecology (co-sponsored by
The Paleontological Society);
Paleoecology: Variation in fossil communities through space and time
(co-sponsored by The Paleontological Society);
Mid-Continent paleontology;
Pennsylvanian and Permian cyclothems of Midcontinent North America;
Developments in Early Paleozoic stratigraphy in the U.S. Midcontinent;
Devonian and Mississippian strata of the Midcontinent North America:
Sequence stratigraphy, paleontology, and hydrocarbon potential (Gas
shales, Carbonates, Cherts);

The meeting website (
http://geosociety.org/sectdiv/Northc/2010mtg/index.htm ) lists 38 theme
sessions and symposia, 11 field trips, 6 workshops, a public policy forum,
luncheons, receptions, exhibits, and opportunities for students, so you
will see that there is much more than only our sessions that will be of
interest to most of us. To provide ample time for social networking, two
free social events are scheduled which (thanks to generous sponsorships
received so far), will feature fantastic, local bluegrass and dulcimer
music. Please help us advertise this unique ?super-sectional? venue, and
join us in the effort to make this a productive, fun, and memorable
meeting.

Abstracts may be submitted at:
http://www.geosociety.org/sectdiv/Northc/2010mtg/techprog.htm

The Technical Sessions coordinator is Kevin Mickus (
Mickus-KevinMickus at MissouriState.edu), to whom you can direct questions
about the meeting; or you can contact the meeting co-convenors: (Marcia
Schulmeister - mschulme at emporia.edu) or Tom Plymate
-tomplymate at missouristate.edu). The meeting website, as well as the
November 2009 issue of GSA Today, list the convenors of each session.

With warm wishes for a great 2010,
John Repetski (jrepetski at usgs.gov).
