Fellow PaleoNetters:

I'm very sorry about the "reply all" exchange that just happened. I
feel a "how many paleontologists" joke coming on... but it's funny
enough already, I suppose.

The context is that I had checked with David yesterday to see if he
could still fit the course into his schedule, he said he probably
could, I posted the course announcement, and then he determined this
morning that he couldn't. And hit reply all. And then I did.

Since the entire list now knows I'm hoping David will change his
mind, how about an e-mail campaign asking him to do so? Just kidding.

And Peter, I really hope you don't take offense!

Cheers,

John Alroy

"Clearly, full reality is unknown, but it is a fixed expectation
across models, thus a further simplification can be written as I(f,
g) = C - Ef[log(g(x|theta))], where the expectation of the logarithm
of full reality drops out into a simple scaling constant,
C." (Anderson et al. 2000, p. 917).
