Call for Nominations - The Gilbert Harris Award 2011

Each year since 1993, the Paleontological Research Institution honors a scientist who, through outstanding research and commitment to the centrality of systematics in paleontology, has made a significant contribution to the science. This award is named for PRI's founder, Gilbert Dennison Harris (1864-1952), who dedicated his career to the pursuit of systematic paleontology. The award is presented at the Friends of PRI reception at the annual national meeting of the Geological Society of America. This year, the meeting will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, 9-12 October 2011.

Please consider nominating a colleague whom you think deserves such recognition. Anyone is welcome to submit a nomination; neither nominators nor nominees need to be members of PRI. The nomination should include (1) the nominee's full name, address, phone number (and email if available); (2) contact information of the nominator(s); (3) a description of the nominee's achievements in paleontology, including a bibliography of his or her most significant contributions (or provide a web link to same); and (4) a photo of the nominee if available.
Please submit nominations by August 1, 2011, to me at the signature address below (email preferred). For further information, including past awardees, see http://www.museumoftheearth.org/research.php?page=888262/617083 or contact me at pmm37 at cornell.edu<mailto:pmm37 at cornell.edu>.
