Paleonet: PhD opportunity in palynology at the university of lille (France)

There is a fully funded PhD fellowship available within the framework of the ANR (the French National Research Agency) ‘RALI’ research project at the University of Lille 1 (France).

The RALI project focuses on the interval between the « Cambrian Explosion » and the « Great Ordovician Biodiversification Event (GOBE) » and aims to address questions regarding these events’ chronology, processes and their environmental triggers. It does so by studying relatively newly discovered exceptionally preserved biotas in a number of sites that fill the data-gaps in the Early Palaeozoic fossil record. The tied PhD project will cover the micropalaeontological aspect of the program, and will focus on biostratigraphy (acritarchs, chitinozoans) as well as on palaeobiology (SCFs).

Deadline for applications: May 20th 2012.
