Dear Paleocommunity,
I am currently working on an Upper Ordovician crinoid assemblage from Kentucky and have come across some interesting results in XRD of the deposit. We have found a halo of phosphorus around crinoid specimens within a siliciclastic mudstone bed from the Cincinnatian Series. These specimens are beautifully preserved and hence, rapidly buried...
Does anyone have any idea/hypotheses/literature pertaining to phosphorus around preserved specimens?
I would certainly appreciate any insight or suggestions on this topic!
Much appreciated!
