Hi Erik,
That you have there is an isolated scale of an actinopterygian fish,
probable related to Elonichthys, a paleoniscoid taxon of Carboniferous or
Early Permian age. I have some good preserved, very similar isolated
scales, and they from deposits of probable late Carboniferous or Early
Permian age. If you want, I could send you some images.
