Paleonet: NAPC Session on Triassic–Jurassic mass extinction and transitional events

The abstract deadline <http://reg.conferences.dce.ufl.edu/napc/> for the
North American Paleontological Convention is approaching in a few short
weeks (September 20th, 5pm EST)! Please consider submitting an abstract to
the session: *Triassic–Jurassic transitional events and the end-Triassic
mass extinction*, a summary of the focus can be found below. The session
will be led by Rowan Martindale and myself and we hope to have both poster
and oral sessions.

 "Recently there have been major advances in our understanding of the
Triassic–Jurassic transition – not only relating to the end-Triassic mass
extinction, but also the conditions leading up to the boundary and the
long-ranging effects that followed. New findings on Late Triassic and Early
Jurassic events suggest dynamic ecosystem evolution, including, but not
limited to: vertebrate extinctions, major transitions in floral realms, the
restructuring of reef ecosystems, and the beginning of the Mesozoic Marine
Revolution.

We welcome abstracts that discuss T–J transition events and Early Mesozoic
biotic events that significantly influenced, or were influenced by, the T–J
transition in order to better understand the conditions leading up to the
boundary and the long-ranging effects that followed. These include several
rapid biotic turnovers and paleoecological shifts, such as the early
development of the Mesozoic Marine Revolution, marine level-bottom faunal
changes, the dramatic restructuring of reef ecosystems, vertebrate
extinctions (on land and in the ocean), and major transitions in floral
realms. This symposium will further the understanding of the geobiological,
ecological, and paleoenvironmental factors that influenced the biotic
events and extinctions during the T–J transition."
