Paleonet: Quetsion About Transforming Paper Tables Into Excel Spread Sheet

HI,

I am involved in compiling legacy data for a mapping
project. In part, it involves typing data from tables for
70 to 80 pages of paper sheets into Excel spreadsheets.
The data includes latitude, longitude, and paleo and
other log tops for hundreds of borings.

Is there any way of maintaining quality control by
checking for errors from mistyping and minimizing
the overall number errors in the transcriptions before
crunching the data on a computer?

Any comments on how to maintain some sort of
quality control on the process would be appreciated.

Best Wishes and Happy Holidays.

Paul
