This is an update of my earlier email regarding the NASA Astrobiology program, a source of funding for paleontological research.
NASA will host an online discussion beginning today at 1 pm EST, revolving around the question, “What are the relative roles of intrinsic and extrinsic factors that promote or impede the evolution of life from simple cells to more complex kinds of cells, organisms, and communities?”. Everyone is welcome to join by visiting http://astrobiologyfuture.org. The more that paleontological perspectives are represented in this discussion, the more likely it is that paleontology will be represented in the final document that guides NASA funding decisions. Please consider joining the discussion.
From the astrobiologyfuture.org home page, click on “Join the Discussion” then “Evolution of Advanced Life”.
Cheers,
Matt

Hello,
This is a quick reminder about the upcoming live discussion of the question: "What are the relative roles of intrinsic and extrinsic factors that promote or impede the evolution of life from simple cells to more complex kinds of cells, organisms, and communities?"
If you would like to share your ideas, please come to the astrobiologyfuture.org website at 1pm EDT.
Regards
Andy
