Dear Colleagues -
Bulletins of American Paleontology<http://www.museumoftheearth.org/publications/booklist.php?catID=50> (ISSN 0007-5779), begun in 1895, is Paleontological Research Institution's monographic serial. It is one of the oldest and best-respected peer-reviewed paleontological journals in the world, and features high-quality monographs in paleontology or in neontological subjects that impact paleontology (see Information for Authors<http://www.museumoftheearth.org/publications/bookstore.php?page=Info_Authors>), most especially systematic revisions. BAP is distributed to over 200 libraries worldwide, by subscription or exchange, and is available in both print and electronic formats. Copies are usually single monographs, and are sold as single issues in our online bookstore. Recent issues have included studies on Texas Paleogene mollusks, Gulf of California Miocene corals, and Mazon Creek bivalves. BAP is also the official journal for publications resulting from the Neogene Paleontology of the Northern Dominican Republic Project<http://eusmilia.geology.uiowa.edu/drprojct.htm>.
The waiting list of manuscripts is short at the moment, and we are soliciting new submissions for review. The minimum size for manuscripts is ca. 180 double line-spaced pages (including text, figure captions, references, and appendices) plus text-figures, tables, and plates. Page charges, based on figures and plate illustrations only, are not mandatory for publication if financial support is unavailable; an exception is color illustrations, for which payment is required. Authors receive a few free copies on publication, and a substantial discount as long as supplies last. Professors, please encourage any of your past students who have not yet published their theses, or who have not published the systematic portions of their work, to consider BAP as an outlet for their research. Volumes containing a series of invited manuscripts (AKA multiauthored, proceedings, or contributed volumes) with a guest editor or editors are also welcomed. Please contact me<mailto:pmm37 at cornell.edu> for estimates, questions, or other details.
With best regards,
Paula Mikkelsen, Editor
