Paleonet: Reminder: Register for the 2013 Summer Symposium at PRI

*Please join us for the 7th Annual Summer Symposium at the Paleontological
Research Institution on August 3 & 4, 2013 in Ithaca, NY!*

*Important dates:*

**- Registration for presenters closes July 15, or when all slots are
filled.
- Registration for the field trip closes July 1, or when all slots are
filled.
- Registration for all symposium attendees closes July 27.*
- *Registration costs increase by $5 after July 15.*


*Symposium overview:*

*Saturday, August 3* will feature posters and oral presentations by
professionals, students, and amateurs whose research covers paleontology,
earth science or earth science education. We expect to host about 20
speakers on Saturday, including a keynote talk by Dr. William Stein of
Binghamton University. Breakfast, lunch, and the evening barbecue are
included with registration, and the day will run from8:00am (start of
breakfast, talks start at 9am) until the barbecue at 5:30pm.

On *Sunday, August 4* Dr. Carl Brett of the University of Cincinnati will
lead a field trip from PRI focused on the Finger Lakes' Devonian geological
history. The field trip will run all day (9am to 5pm) and will end in the
afternoon with a boat tour of the Staghorn Point reef assemblage on
Skaneateles Lake! The field trip will include lunch but guests are
encouraged to bring their own snacks and water. Please be sure to dress
appropriately, wear close toed shoes, and bring hats, sunscreen,
sunglasses, etc.

please also sign up to share it with us in a talk or a poster
presentation! Talks will be 15-minute slots (12 minute talks with 3 minutes
for questions). Posters should be no wider than 48 inches and we recommend
the height not exceed 36-40 inches. *Both talk and field trip slots are
filling up, so register today!*
