This just in …

Grant offered by the research project entitled "Aerodynamic study of Mesozoic stem birds and its implications on the evolution of flight in the avian clade", in the framework of the funding agreement between the "Sierra Elvira" Foundation (Atarfe, Granada, Spain) and Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History Foundation (LACMNHF, USA).

The scholarship will be subject to the legal regulations of Spain. It will not imply a contractual relationship with the Sierra Elvira Foundation and will not undertake a commitment to the subsequent hiring of the grant holder as a member of any of the two entities cited above.

The grant will be awarded for up to one year, the maximum period of time scheduled for the research project to which it is ascribed. However, the grant will finish if the research activities for which it was granted are achieved before this period of time. In such a case, the scholarship holder will not receive any termination indemnities.

The grant will come into effect by a document of acceptance from the person proposed for the scholarship, which will specify the type of study that constitutes the objective of the grant and the obligations of the scholarship holder.

Selection process

The selection of the grant holder will be governed by the principles of transparency and publicity, equal opportunities, merit and ability.

The procedure of selection will start with the publication of a scholarship announcement in which the work to be developed, the profile of applicants, the merits that can be assessed, the testing procedure and the composition of the selection board will be described. This publication will be available in the web page of the "Sierra Elvira" Foundation (http://www.fundacionsierraelvira.org/activ.html).

Remunerations

All grant expenses will be charged to the funds received by the "Sierra Elvira" Foundation. The monthly remuneration of the grant holder will be consistent with the financial contribution to the research project that supports it. A withholding under the IRPF tax payments concept and any other administrative expenses (e.g., currency exchange rates, cost of legal advise, etc.) will be also charged to this financial contribution.
