Paleonet: Funding opportunities to join the project on the Lessepsian invasion in Vienna in 2019

Dear Colleagues,

I wish to bring to your attention a few options to join the project on 
the Lessepsian invasion I am leading in Vienna

- PhD students and early post-docs can apply for the Ernst Mach 
fellowship:

Note that the most widely applicable option, the Worldwide fellowship, 
has its deadline on 1 February (sorry for the short notice, it used to 
be later until last year; the application is not hard and can be 
arranged with a reactive applicant in ten days).

- Students of all levels of some European countries can apply to this 
fellowship:

All these fellowships provide a stipend that covers local costs well.

I am always happy to support also Erasmus internship applications or 
other funding options.

The ideal candidate has a genuine interest in one or more of the 
following topics: the effects of climate change and biological invasions 
on benthic assemblages, comparisons between living and death assemblages 
for actualistic and paleoecological applications, molluscan diversity 
and taxonomy, the Eastern Mediterranean.
The work will focus on interesting benthos samples from hard substrates 
collected with an airlift sampler, involves a lot of picking and mollusc 
identification. Further analytical developments available depending on 
the applicant's interests.
