I’m interested in the details of the collision which created the Himalayan Plateau, and I’m especially interested in the paleoenvironments which would have been present during the initial contact and early uplift of the proto-Himalayan range.
I’ve seen reconstructions which indicate a complex series of mountains and waterways at the region of contact, but I’d like to know how accurate those are and how the configuration might have influenced local ecosystem types. I’ve tried to find references on this topic, but I’m not at all familiar with the literature on geology and paleoecology. If anyone can recommend sources and/or researchers to consult, I’d be very grateful.
