Hello Paleo-net community,
In March 2020, The Micropalaeontological Society launched a call for
nominations for The Todd and Low Award: a new *mid-career *award, set
up to *reward
contributions and commitment to teaching, mentoring, equity, diversity,
inclusion, accessibility and fostering a positive culture within their
workplace environment*. Mid-career for this award is defined as *1**0-30
years *post highest attained degree excluding career breaks.
*The nominations deadline is coming up in a few weeks *(*May 7th*)! There
is more information on the TMS website: https://www.tmsoc.org/awards/ . *We
particularly encourage nominations of individuals from historically
underrepresented groups in the geosciences.*
- *Nominees don't have to be TMSoc members*
- *1* *nominator *(out of 2) has to be a TMSoc member.
- A supporting statement from an individual who has been
supported/taught/mentored etc. can also be submitted (optional) .
- *If you are thinking about nominating with another individual and you
aren't sure of their TMS membership status *we can help - email our
membership secretary Matthew Pound on membership at tmsoc.org.
- There is also this general thought that senior scientists have to be
nominators - we'd like to reinforce that *early career nominators are
more than welcome to send in a nomination*. If early career and/or first
time nominators would like any advice or support with their applications,
we encourage them to get in touch.
We look forward to reading your nominations!
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Stay safe and healthy.
Best wishes,
Rehemat
