Dear All,

We would like to invite those who are interested to submit an abstract to our session, T1. Actualistic Paleontology: Learning from the Modern to Better Interpret the Past, for the 2022 Joint North-Central/Southeastern Section GSA Meeting, which will be held in Cincinnati, OH, on April 7-8, 2022. This will be an in-person meeting, though there may be a stream option as well. More information about the meeting can be found here: https://bit.ly/3rOraP8.

Session description: The study of modern organisms, ecosystems, environments, and climate proxies augments our ability to understand sedimentary and paleontological records. This multidisciplinary session brings together scientists who investigate modern systems with application to the past. We welcome studies on, but not limited to, taphonomy, ecology, environmental gradients, and climate proxy calibration. This session is endorsed by SEPM (Society for Sedimentary Geology), Paleontological Society, GSA Sedimentary Geology Division, and GSA Quaternary Geology and Geomorphology Division.
