Hi Roy: Your request made me wonder where my copy of this book went in my recent moves. I found it, a first edition (1934) signed by Simpson (I either missed that when I bought the book or forgot it). Your quotation is on p. 83, the last page of Chapter 4. I have, someplace, a paperback of this book too, so other editions/prinitingd are out there as well.
Thanks for the question.
Jere

Does anyone have a copy of George Gaylord Simpson's Attending Marvels handy? Mine is at the office. Looking for chapter and page number for this quote: "Fossil hunting is far the most fascinating of all sports...It has some danger... some uncertainty and excitement and all the thrills of gambling with none of its vicious features...The fossil hunter does not kill, he resurrects. And the result of his sport is to add to the sum of human pleasure and to the treasures of human knowledge. " Thanks! Roy
