Paleonet: Terminology question

Good evening,

I’m interested in the actual definition of the word palaeometry or paleometry (allowing for the American spelling) it seems as if this term primarily refers to non-destructive testing procedures, and while there aren't too may papers on the topic it also seems to encompass astrobiology. Amanda S. Gomes et. al. in a 2019 paper "Paleometry as a key tool to deal with paleobiological and astrobiological issues: some contributions and reflections on the Brazilian fossil record” says in her abstract “… a cross-point of both sciences is paleometry, which involves a myriad of imaging and geochemical techniques, usually non-destructive, applied to the investigation of the fossil record.”

So i’m interested in finding out if there is a term that is preferred over palaeometry/paleometry that includes destructive testing such as histology. I'm taking my lead from the term archaeometry which is the technical and testing side of archaeology but which does include both destructive and non-destructive procedures. So if anybody knows of a preferred term, I would be interested in knowing what it is.

Thanks in advance,
