Dear Paleonet Colleagues,

I am pleased to share my recent work with all the colleagues working on trace fossils. In this work, I used frequency spectrum and autocorrelation function to quantify the horizontal trace fossils, and used them to find out the putative trace makers. They can be used for anatomical interpretations, as well as quantitative ichnotaxonomy. This would be the first paper of the series (quantitative ichnology), and here is the link and pdf:

For colleagues unfamiliar with codes and maths, I also uploaded the MATLAB code and a free software:

If you are also interested in these two metrics, don't hesitate to download them.

Best regards, and merry Christmas,

Best,
