Dear PaleoNet community,

The Conservation Paleobiology Network (CPN) is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity for students and postdoctoral scholars in the network to participate in conferences outside of the geosciences—particularly those related to conservation, management, and restoration. This funding call aims to advance the network’s goal of promoting connections between researchers and conservation practitioners to develop conservation paleobiology as an interdisciplinary, applied science.

CPN funds are available to support two different types of applications: 1) applicants convening conservation paleobiology sessions and 2) applicants attending and/or presenting their original conservation paleobiology work at conferences, workshops, or other meetings.

This funding call is open to all students (including those transitioning between academic programs) and postdoctoral scholars in the CPN (It's free to join here<https://conservationpaleorcn.org/>!). Please note that due to NSF guidelines, applicants must be affiliated with an institution in the United States and conferences must be held in the United States to be eligible for funding. We are able to provide support for conferences taking place between September 2023 and August 2024.

The deadline to apply has been extended to June 12, 2023. A second round of funding in late 2023 will be considered if funds remain.

To learn more and apply, please see the attached solicitation document or visit https://bit.ly/CPNStudentGrant.

Also, a prime example of where to use funding has just been announced! There will be a Conservation Paleobiology session held at the National Conference on Ecosystem Restoration (NCER) held April 14-19, 2024 in Alburquerque, NM. Conference details here<https://myemail.constantcontact.com/NCER-2024---Announcing-the-Call-for-Abstracts.html?soid=1102055109372&aid=KjiRDtgDkuM>!

Feel free to reach out to us or to students.cpn at gmail.com if you have any questions, and please share this opportunity with your colleagues and students.

Best,

Broc Kokesh & Erin Dillon, CPN Student Panel Co-Chairs
On behalf of the CPN Student Panel
