Hello Everyone,

I'd like to invite all interested to submit abstracts for our session
"Exploring the Borders and Boundaries of Mixed Reality in the Geosciences".
This session will discuss the challenges, potential, best practices, and
advancements of mixed reality in the geosciences.

See our description below and the attached flyers (in jpg and PDF form).

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me!

Cheers,

Mike

Session Overview:

In recent years, the ‘promise’ of mixed reality (MR) technologies (such as
virtual and augmented reality) have caught up to the to ‘possible’ with the
proliferation of supporting technologies. However, MR is still in its early
stages and presents numerous challenges, both technically and ethically.
Questions about access, methods, abilities, and even rationale continue to
be asked. Hence the need for a dedicated forum to discuss the current
state-of-the-art, share case studies, and identify key challenges and
opportunities.

This session will provide an opportunity for researchers, engineers, and
educators to come together to explore the frontiers of MR in the
geosciences, and to discuss how MR can be used to enhance research,
teaching, and outreach.

The session could cover a wide range of geoscience topics, including but
not limited to:

·MR applications in geology, geophysics, geomorphology, hydrology, and
other geoscience disciplines.
·Case studies of MR in geoscience research, teaching, and outreach.
·Technical challenges and possible best practices for MR development and
deployment in the geosciences.
·Opportunities for collaboration and interdisciplinary research in MR and
the geosciences.
·Implications of MR for the future of geoscience education, workforce
development, and public engagement.

This session aims to stimulate cross-disciplinary conversation and
collaborations, foster new research ideas, and provide a platform for the
geoscience community to share their experiences and knowledge on the use of
mixed reality in their field.
