WSM: Call for Abstracts!



Short and Free:  The 56th annual meeting of the Western Society of
Malacologists, Saturday, June 24, 2023, 9 AM – 6 PM­­

Hosted by the Schmid College of Science & Technology, Chapman University,
Orange, CA!



This will be a trimmed down 1-day meeting (9 AM-4 PM) with morning and
afternoon lecture sessions (5 or 10 min talks), as well as a 2-hour
afternoon poster session.



In addition to scientific talks, there will be a symposium, hosted by Hans
Bertsch, “History of the Western Society of Malacologists: Reminiscences
and Vignettes.":  Presentations by anyone on something interesting, weird,
helpful, scientific, about your time as a member of WSM.



Chapman University has generously donated space to support our meeting.  We
have reserved a very nice lecture hall (AF 202, with remote technology) for
live presentations (9AM-4 PM), with ample coffee and refreshments.  Lunch
will be on your own from a variety of delicious food venues within walking
distance.  There will be a late afternoon poster session in a second room
(AF206 A,B), allowing for posters to be on display all day. We will set up
a zoom link for those of you who cannot attend in person, including the
capacity to give a remote talk.



If you are interested, please reply to this email directly (
wwright at chapman.edu) and submit a title and an abstract (see details below)
for

a.      a 5 or 10 min (indicate which) talk during the day, and/or

b.      a poster you will present, and/or

c.      a 5 min talk in the symposium of the History of WSM.



Abstract formatting: PLEASE format your abstract (250 words or less).
Title should be in ALL CAPS text, with 140 characters maximum (including
spaces) exactly like the following example:
