Hello everyone!

Myself and my co-convener, Peter Roopnarine, would like to invite abstract
submissions to our session entitled, *"Traits, Functions, and Systems:
Quantifying Paleocommunity Variation, Persistence, and Resilience"*, to be
held at the North American Paleontological Convention (NAPC) June
17th-21st, 2024, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

This session aims to bring together talks that focus on
paleocommunity-level ecological variation, stability, and persistence.
Research in all aspects of paleontology, particularly those focused on
measuring and modeling ecological diversity and evolutionary processes,
such as functional diversity, trait space, food webs, and system-level
dynamics and persistence in geologic time will be welcome. The topic of
quantifying ecological properties in paleocommunities has gained a lot of
attention in recent years, particularly as more science comes to light
verifying that functional traits and trophic position play a large role in
extinction vulnerability and stability. This is particularly applicable
during intervals of global environmental change, and hence are not only of
use during deep-time studies, but modern biological studies as well.

*The abstract deadline has been extended to February 15th, 2024!*

For more information, and to submit your abstract, please go to:

Cheers,
Ashley Dineen
